    Plinth has collaborated with Southbank Centre to develop a limited-edition T-shirt of Alisha B Wormsley's artwork ‘There Are Black People In The Future’ for the Hayward Gallery’s In the Black Fantastic exhibition.

    A portion of the profits from the sale of this tshirt will directly support www.sibylshrine.com , which is an arts collective and residency program Wormsley set up rooted in radical care, rest and support for Black women, womxn, trans women, and femmes who are m/others and identify as artists, creatives and activists in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania— and beyond.

    Alisha B. Wormsley’s single-channel video Children of NAN: Mothership is included in Andrea Chung’s Arts Center exhibition “if they place an iron circle around your neck I will bite it away.’’ The video is an archive of objects, photographs, video footage, films, sounds, philosophies, myths, rituals, and performances that Wormsley has been compiling for over a decade. This compelling work documents the ways Black women care for themselves, each other, and the earth.

    Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures

    March 24, 2023 – March 24, 2024

    Investigating Afrofuturist expression through art, music, activism and more, this exhibition explores and reveals Afrofuturism’s historic and poignant engagement with African American history and popular culture. From the enslaved looking to the cosmos for freedom to popular sci-fi stories inspiring Black astronauts, to the musical influence of Sun Ra, OutKast, Janelle Monae, P-Funk and more, this exhibition covers the broad and impactful spectrum of Afrofuturism.

    The International Arrivals corridor will feature Orrery and Butterfly Nebula by Pittsburgh-based artist  Alisha B. Wormsley. The works consist of a sculpture on the ceiling inspired by a model of the galaxy and patterns of immigration into Pittsburgh, and an installation built into the adjacent wall made from an array of collected ‘treasures’ from the airport’s lost and found.
